Booking an Appointment

Circumstances regarding possible infection with coronavirus in Australia are changing rapidly.  For the present time, please do not attend our clinic if you have travelled overseas in the last two weeks or if you are unwell with cold and flu symptoms.  For further information, please call 02 95571464 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. We understand that many patients may be anxious at the time of illness and that they want their scans done as soon as possible.

All Specialist MRI scans require a booking which can be made over the phone. Please arrange an appointment on 02 9557 1464.

Patients can also use our online booking form to request an appointment.

Our staff will need to ask you the following questions when booking your appointment:

  • Who is your referring Doctor?
  • Is your referring doctor a Specialist or General Practitioner?
  • Which part of your body is being scanned?
  • Do you have a referral letter from your Doctor?
  • Do you have any previous scans or x-rays of the same body part?

Specialist MRI staff will ask you to read the doctor's request and, if possible, fax a copy to our office. This helps us allocate enough time for your study, and we can make sure the most appropriate specialist Radiologist is available to report on your scans.

If you have previous scans of the same area of your body, you need to bring them along so that the Radiologist can use them for comparison when reporting your MRI scan.

What do you need to bring to your appointment?

  • Referral letter/form from your doctor
  • Any previous scans, this will assist our doctors in formulating their report
  • Medicare card
  • Aged or Disability Pension card or DVA card if applicable
  • Work cover details if applicable

At the time of making your booking, we will advise you of the cost of your MRI scan, and whether or not you are eligible for a Medicare rebate. This will depend on the condition for which you are being scanned and the type of referring doctor (Specialist or General Practitioner).

We welcome referrals from General Practitioners but only certain items are eligible for Medicare rebate. If there is no rebate, there will be an out-of-pocket charge to you.

Workers Compensation

If Workers Compensation or Third Party insurance covers your scan you will need to have written approval from your insurance company before we are able to scan you.
